West Ham are in the transfer market for a new centre forward. Although the Hammers have signed Niclas Fullkrug as the new number nine, the club wants a young striker to bolster their attacking ranks.
In this transfer window, West Ham were interested in signing Aston Villa star Jhon Duran. Duran is a young striker who has adapted well to the pace and physicality of the Premier League. Further at 20 years old, Duran needs regular playing time to become a world class centre forward.
West Ham prepare opening bid for Tammy Abraham
At West Ham, there is a need for a young forward as well. However, Aston Villa rejected West Ham's bid for Duran that led West Ham to sign Niclas Fullkrug instead. Now after completing eight signings, West Ham are considering bringing in another forward as well.
Therefore, the Hammers are interested in signing Roma forward Tammy Abraham to partner Fullkrug in attack. The former Chelsea striker scored fifteen goals in his debut Premier League campaign in the 2019/20 season. Now, the 26-year-old looks highly likely to return to the Premier League after three years.
According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Roma want a transfer fee of around £21 million to sell Abraham in this transfer window. After signing La Liga top scorer Artem Dovbyk from Girona, Roma want to sell a few players in order to make more signings. Thus, West Ham need to spend £21 million to sign Abraham which is a great opportunity to bring in a proven Premier League performer.
Further, West Ham are also willing to sell experienced English forward Danny Ings this summer. If West Ham sign Abraham, they will have a brilliant squad depth for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, West Ham are preparing to face Aston Villa in the first matchday of the new Premier League season.
