West Ham moved their attention to Borussia Dortmund forward Niclas Fullkrug after having their Jhon Duran bid rejected by Aston Villa. Recently, the Hammers sent their opening bid to Dortmund to sign Niclas Fullkrug this summer.
It was reported that West Ham's offer was short of Dortmund's valuation who demanded €30 million for the inform centre forward. As a surprise, it was also revealed that West Ham still considered Jhon Duran in case they couldn't agree with Dortmund for a transfer fee for Fullkrug.
West Ham complete the signing of Borussia Dortmund star Niclas Fullkrug
However, transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has reported the agreement between West Ham and Dortmund for Fullkrug. Confirming this transfer move, Fabrizio Romano said,
"Niclas Füllkrug to West Ham, here we go! Deal in place for €27m fee plus €5m add-ons to Borussia Dortmund.Fabrizio Romano
Medical booked on Saturday."
This is a huge boost for West Ham who have completed their pursuit of a new forward by signing Niclas Fullkrug. After almost three weeks trying to negotiate with Aston Villa to sign Jhon Duran, West Ham finally have brought in a prolific goalscorer.
The German striker has been one of the best forwards in the Bundesliga and scored fifteen goals for Borussia Dortmund last season. Although he is 31-years-old currently and doesn't have much pace, the striker scores a lot of goals which are highly required by Julen Lopetegui's side who only have ageing strikers like Danny Ings and Michail Antonio who struggled with form and fitness last season.
Now, the front line looks much better with the signing of left winger Cryscencio Summerville and forward Niclas Fullkrug. More importantly, this will allow Jarrod Bowen to play on his preferred right wing and Mohammed Kudus to take on a central role behind Fullkrug and sometimes as a creative playmaker.
