Recently, transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has provided a new update on West Ham's pursuit of Aston Villa forward, Jhon Duran. Speaking of the update, Fabrizio said,

This comes as a surprising move by Villa, when in the last few days, HITC reported the player's willingness to leave Villa Park and Aston Villa also wanting to cash in on the young striker.

Recently, Jhon Duran's agent, Jonathan Herrera also expressed his optimism on the deal adding he can't see a reason for the transfer to West Ham not happen. But the latest developments in the situation has made the move complicated.

Villa for their part, remain firm on their £40 million valuation. Despite reports from HITC claiming that a significant sell-on clause or add-ons can make the deal happen, Villa rejecting a £32 million plus sell-on clause and Hammers academy talent Lewis Orford has taken Jhon Duran and West Ham by surprise.

Now, it doesn't seem that anything less than a straight transfer fee of £40 million will be enough to land Duran. With only three weeks remaining before the start of the Premier League season, West Ham face a race against time and more dilemma on whether to move forward in the negotiations for Jhon Duran.

On the positive side, West Ham have verbally agreed a deal with Bayern Munich for right-back Noussair Mazraoui. This is going to be a busy weekend for the Hammers both in terms of transfers as well as Sunshine State Tour where they prepare to face Wolves in a preseason friendly on Sunday.
