West Ham have been involved in negotiations with Manchester United for Aaron Wan-Bissaka since a few weeks. The Hammers agreed personal terms with Wan-Bissaka previously but were yet to agree with Manchester United on the transfer fee.
There were reports suggesting that Italian Champions Inter Milan are also interested in Wan-Bissaka and are also willing to do a swap deal with Manchester United involving Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Denzel Dumfries. This led to West Ham considering signing Kieran Trippier as Wan-Bissaka's alternative this summer.
Fabrizio Romano gives Here we go for Aaron Wan-Bissaka to join West Ham
However, West Ham have finally completed the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United. Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano gave the Here we go on this signing, saying,
"Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham, here we go! Verbal agreement in place for right back to join WHUFC from Man United as planned.Fabrizio Romano
Understand medical tests already booked on Sunday for AWB!
Fee will be £15m. Man United authorized AWB to travel… Mazraoui, joining soon."
This is a massive signing for West Ham who only had Vladimir Coufal for the right back position. Recently, West Ham signed Nice centre back Jean-Clair Todibo as well and now the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka will improve the defence that conceded 74 goals in the Premier League last season.
Further, Wan-Bissaka is a huge upgrade on Vladimir Coufal as the 26-year-old has great recovery pace and is a quality defender as well. Now, West Ham have improved their defence as well ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Hammers can still look to do some more signings alongside selling a few players as well in this transfer window. However, West Ham have finally assembled a quality squad to aim for a top six finish in the upcoming Premier League season.
