West Ham have signed Nice centre back Jean-Clair Todibo. Since last month, West Ham were interested in Todibo and had their bid accepted by Nice as well but Juventus interest in Todibo led to the player waiting for Juventus to match West Ham's bid.
Last week, West Ham came up with a new and improved offer for Todibo. Meanwhile, Juventus offered to sign Todibo from Nice on a loan with a buy option. Although Nice were convinced with West Ham's bid, it seemed that Juventus will return with a new offer for Todibo this summer.
West Ham complete the signing of Nice centre back Jean-Clair Todibo
However as reported by transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, West Ham have successfully convinced Todibo to join West Ham and are set to sign him from Nice. Speaking on this transfer, Romano said,
"Jean-Clair Todibo to West Ham, here we go!Fabrizio Romano
Understand Todibo, his agent and West Ham director Tim Steidten are flying to London right now!
€40m on loan + obligation, sell-on clause included. Medical booked today."
With this signing, West Ham have brought the perfect defensive partner for Max Kilman at centre back. Now, West Ham only need a new right back to improve their defence. Although West Ham have paid around £34 million for the 24-year-old, the Hammers have brought in a reliable defender at the London Stadium.
Todibo's great recovery pace and world class defending will help keep more clean sheets for West Ham who conceded 74 goals in the Premier League last season. Now, West Ham should try to sign Manchester United right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka quickly to start their new season with an aim of achieving a top six finish to return to playing European football from the next season.
