West Ham were in negotiations with Manchester United for right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka for several weeks. Meanwhile, they also entered into the race to sign Bayern Munich fullback Noussair Mazraoui so that Erik Ten Hag's side sell Wan-Bissaka to West Ham as signing Mazraoui was their top priority in this summer transfer window. However, the Hammers managed to secure the signing of their preferred full back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
In the first match, the 26-year-old didn't played as he had recently joined West Ham. Now, in the second match, manager Julen Lopetegui brought in Wan-Bissaka as a second half substitute. Crystal Palace had created several good chances and almost scored as Eberechi Eze hit the goal post as well.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka displayed his playmaking abilities in the second match
Therefore, Wan-Bissaka came to improve the defence and help West Ham keep a clean sheet. He was reliable in defence and even showed his playmaking abilities in the opening goal. He made a great run from his own half and advanced forward to give a key pass to Jarrod Bowen inside the final third. The ball took a few deflections in the Crystal Palace half and came towards Tomas Soucek, who scored the first goal of the match which gave West Ham the 1-0 lead.
Thus, in this match, Wan-Bissaka showed that he is a great fullback who can create chances and defend as well. With this signing, West Ham seem to have found a quality long term replacement for Vladimir Coufal, who had been a brilliant player for the Hammers, but has been struggling to defend well against quality Premier League forwards since the last season.
