Some fans may have forgotten that West Ham United had Keiber Lamadrid on loan from Deportivo La Guaira last season. However, the player has now joined the club permanently.

The Athletic has revealed that "The club have activated their £1million option to sign Keiber Lamadrid."

Lamadrid is only 22, and played 104 times for Deportivo La Guaira before joining the Hammers. However, he only made one first-team appearance for Nuno Espirito Santo's side. This came as West Ham scraped past Burton Albion in the FA Cup.

The Venezuelan international played 71 minutes of that tie before being replaced by Freddie Potts. West Ham avoided an upset thanks to a goal in extra time by Crysencio Summerville. The Dutchman is expected to leave the London Stadium this summer, which could give Lamadrid an opportunity.

Lamadrid is predominantly a left-winger like Summerville. However, he can also play on the left side of midfield and in an attacking midfield role. He made West Ham's bench in three Premier League games last season. However, he will be expecting to get his chance in the Championship.

The winger did make three appearances for West Ham's Under-21s in Premier League 2. He got one assist and one goal in three appearances in the competition. He has two caps for Venezuela, which came against Canada and Trinidad & Tobago.

Any news on any other West Ham youngsters?

Mohamadou Kante could be on his way out of West Ham. He arrived at the club from Paris FC, and has a loan back to the French side. However, he has gone on to make 11 Premier League appearances for the Hammers.

The Athletic has also reported that "West Ham are braced for offers for promising midfielder Kante. The 20-year-old, whose valuation is in the region of £15m-£20m, has attracted interest from clubs in Ligue 1."

Kante would likely get more of a chance for the Hammers in the Championship, especially if Mateus Fernandes departs this summer. However, if he has the option of playing top-flight soccer back in France, then that could be a better option for him.

It was not revealed which Ligue 1 teams are interested in Kante. However, his old side, Paris FC, which he represented in Ligue 2, is now in France's top flight.
