West Ham United suffered a 5-2 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield. Whilst the Hammers defended badly, they had chances to make the scoreline look more respectable. The heavy defeat is, of course, not good for West Ham's goal difference, which is now at -20. Nuno Espirito Santo's side can take heart from the chances they created, but they need to sort the defense out as the Hammers travel to Fulham on Wednesday night.
Liverpool–West Ham Premier League player ratings
Below, we're rating the West Ham players on a scale of 1 to 10.
Goalkeeper and defenders
Mads Hermansen (GK): 3
Mads Hermansen was beaten at the near post for Liverpool's opener. However, you cannot blame him for all the goals West Ham conceded. He could have been more commanding from set-pieces.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB): 4
Aaron Wan-Bissaka struggled to deal with Mohamed Salah. However, the full-back still managed to get forward and put crosses in.
Dinos Mavropanos (CB): 4
Did not always close down Liverpool's forwards quickly enough and could not organize the back-line as he has done so recently.
Axel Disasi (CB): 4
The Chelsea loanee looked slow today.
El Hadj Malik Diouf (LB): 5
The Senegalese international had a difficult afternoon against Cody Gakpo. However, on the ball, he was brilliant and set up Tomas Soucek's goal.
Midfielders
Soungoutou Magassa (CDM): 5
The Frenchman made some good challenges, but was sloppy in possession.
Tomas Soucek (CDM): 6
Often looked frustrated, and this came out when he pushed Dominik Szobozlai. However, Soucek was in the right place at the right time to score.
Mateus Fernandes (CM): 6
Solid performance from Mateus Fernandes, who was playing in a slightly more advanced role. He was able to play some good balls forward.
Forwards
Jarrod Bowen (RW): 6
The West Ham captain missed a golden chance to score after a mistake from Alisson. Bowen was always keen to take on players, but often lost possession. Did put in the corner from which Taty Castellanos scored.
Taty Castellanos (CF): 6
The Argentine was always busy up front and got his goal, even if it was just a consolation. However, at times, he did not seem to be on the same wavelength as his teammates.
Crysencio Summerville (LW): 6
West Ham's in-form man was very effective and forced Alisson into making a good save. However, he was wayward with other efforts.
