On another day, a player such as Crysencio Summerville would have put away one of West Ham United's chances, and they would have gone level with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. Unfortunately, the Hammers failed to capitalize on their dominance of AFC Bournemouth, as their tie at the London Stadium finished 0-0. It does not matter how you win at this stage in the season, but Nuno Espirito Santo's side can be spirited with their performance against another in-form side.
West Ham–Bournemouth Premier League player ratings
Below, we're rating the West Ham players on a scale of 1 to 10.
Goalkeeper and defenders
Mads Hermansen (GK): 6
Mads Hermansen was untested; Bournemouth's best chance came from Rayan, who put his effort wide.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB): 6
Aaron Wan-Bissaka put in a shift, but the Hammers do at times need him to contribute more in an attacking sense.
Dinos Mavropanos (CB): 7
Another solid performance from the Greek international, who was also a threat from set-pieces.
Axel Disasi (CB): 7
The signing of Axel Disasi was criticized by many supporters, given how little soccer he has played recently. However, he has been solid since joining the Hammers. He is even becoming a threat from set-pieces, but he missed a good chance early on.
El Hadj Malik Diouf (LB): 6
The left-back was able to get forward often and put crosses into the box.
Midfielders
Mateus Fernandes (CM): 6
The central midfielder was able to dictate play with his excellent range of passing. However, he did dive in too early when making a challenge.
Soungoutou Magassa (CM): 7
Soungoutou Magassa's work off the ball will often go unnoticed. His ability to play excellent through balls was also effective. Mohamadou Kante came on for the midfielder late on.
Tomas Soucek (CAM): 7
Tomas Soucek was playing in a more advanced role and linked up well with the front line. Callum Wilson came on for the Czech international and nearly scored against his former club.
Forwards
Jarrod Bowen (RW): 7
Put some excellent deliveries into dangerous areas. However, he often looked like he lacked options on the right wing. The West Ham captain had a chance late on, but put it wide.
Taty Castellanos (CF): 7
Taty Castellanos combined well with the players behind him. However, would have been disappointed not to have found the back of the net. He did manage to show his ability as a provider, putting in a great cross for Summerville. The Argentine also tracked back well when needed. Taty nearly scored a sensational overhead kick from one of Bowen's crosses.
Crysencio Summerville (LW): 6
Summerville missed the chance that Cestellanos set him up for. The Dutch international has been West Ham's best player this season, but lacked a clinical edge in this game. He also lost the ball on occasions. Summerville is always willing to run at players and put an effort over the bar late on.
