West Ham United managed to sign two center-forwards in January, Taty Castellanos and Pablo. Unfortunately, Pablo has already fallen victim to the Hammers' striker curse and is injured. However, Castellanos has impressed so far.

West Ham needed to strengthen their forward line after letting Niclas Fullkrug go on loan to AC Milan. Nuno Espirito Santo's side also kept hold of Callum Wilson, who, despite his age, has still managed some important goals, including the winner against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Hammers are now already being linked with more strikers ahead of the summer transfer window. TEAMtalk has reported that "Union Saint-Gilloise striker Promise David has become one of the most closely monitored emerging forwards in Europe, with West Ham understood to be pushing hard to beat a host of clubs chasing his signature.

"Newcastle, West Ham, Leeds, Sunderland, and Brighton have all watched the forward extensively this season, with each club impressed by both his output and his unconventional development path."

Who is the West Ham target, Promise David?

David is of Nigerian heritage, but was born in Canada. He played youth soccer for Toronto FC and another Canadian side called Vaughan Azzurri. His youth career was also spent with the Croatian side, Trnje, and the American club, FC Tulsa.

It would be with Trnje where he would make his breakthrough into senior soccer. He then went to Malta to play for Valletta and Sirens. David's next destination was Estonia, where he represented Nõmme Kalju before making his move to Union Saint-Gilloise.

The striker represented Nigeria at the Under-23 level, but is now a Canadian international with eight caps and three goals. He is expected to be a part of Jesse Marsch's roster for the World Cup this summer.

This season for Union SG, David has scored nine goals and recorded one assist in 23 games in the Jupiler Pro League. He also scored twice in seven Champions League games.

It is good to see that West Ham is already in for him. However, much of the Hammers' business will depend on whether they manage to stay in the Premier League. They remain in the bottom three after 26 games.

It is a concern that other Premier League clubs are interested in David. This includes Brighton, who are a sister club of Union SG. West Ham needs to avoid relegation and prove ambition if the club is to sign talented players.
