West Ham United managed to draw 1-1 with Manchester City at the London Stadium. The result lifted the Hammers out of the bottom three. Albeit, with the team they leapfrogged, Nottingham Forest, still to play this weekend.
The result also had consequences at the other end of the table. West Ham have contributed to Arsenal slipping up in the title race in seasons past. However, Nuno Espirito Santo's side has now done them a favor; the Gunners are now nine points ahead of City.
West Ham–Man City Premier League player ratings
Below, we're rating the West Ham players on a scale of 1 to 10.
Goalkeeper and defenders
Mads Hermansen (GK): 7
Was unfortunate to concede Bernardo Silva's miss-hit cross. Mads Hermansen showed his class by denying Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki in the second half. He also got his fingertips on a Silva free-kick.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RWB): 5
Aaron Wan-Bissaka was often out of position, which included when Silva scored his fluky goal. The right-back also got caught in possession in a bad area, which resulted in a chance for Antoine Semenyo. Wan-Bissaka also struggled when Jeremy Doku came on.
Jean-Clair Todibo (CB): 7
Often had to come across to cover for Wan-Bissaka.
Dinos Mavropanos (CB): 8
Headed in from a Jarrod Bowen cross to equalize for the Hammers. City had no chance as Dinos Mavropanos' header went in off the crossbar. The Greek international was able to nullify many of Pep Guardiola's side's attacks.
Axel Disasi (CB): 6
Nuno showed he can be flexible with his formation in playing a back three. Having Axel Disasi playing alongside Todibo and Mavropanos helped stop Haaland.
El Hadj Malik Diouf (LWB): 6
The Senegalese was solid, but would have wanted to have had more of an impact on the ball.
Midfielders
Thomas Soucek (CDM) 6
By playing a back three, West Ham had to soak up a lot of pressure. Thomas Soucek did his job but was not able to get forward as often as he would have liked.
Mateus Fernandes (CDM): 6
Mateus Fernandes also had to be disciplined, so he was not able to be as effective on the ball.
Jarrod Bowen (CAM): 7
Provided an excellent corner kick from which Mavropanos scored.
Pablo (CAM): 5
Pablo was playing in a deeper role than usual, but he has not looked 100% since his injury.
Forward
Taty Castellanos (CF): 6
Taty Castellanos looked isolated up front on his own, but he dropped back to help out defensively well.
