Myles Lewis-Skelly burst into the scene at Arsenal in the 2023/24 season. He notably mimicked Erling Haaland’s celebration when scoring his first goal for the Gunners in a 5-1 win over Manchester City.
This campaign, Lewis-Skelly has lacked game time, and has featured in just 14 Premier League games. Mikel Arteta has played Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapié instead of him. This has led to speculation about Lewis-Skelly’s future.
According to CaughtOffside, “Several Premier League clubs are already monitoring the situation closely. Everton, Crystal Palace, and West Ham United are among the teams interested in bringing the young defender in on loan.”
Should Myles Lewis-Skelly join West Ham?
Lewis-Skelly would consider himself an established Premier League player, so the Hammers must ensure they survive relegation if they are to have any chance of signing him. At West Ham, he would likely be the first choice left-back ahead of El Hadj Malick Diouf and Ollie Scarles.
Joining Palace would be a gamble, as we still do not know who their manager will be next season, with Oliver Glasner set to depart the club.
Everton could be a tempting transfer as they are currently eighth in the Premier League with an outside chance of qualifying for Europe. Lewis-Skelly is also only 19, so he will learn a lot of life skills if he is to move up to Liverpool from London.
Lewis-Skelly already has six England caps, with one goal, which came on his debut against Albania. He was not included in Thomas Tuchel's last squad, and due to his lack of game time at Arsenal, he now has a slim chance of going to the World Cup this summer. However, he could reclaim his place for the Three Lions if he proves himself on loan away from the Gunners.
