Lucas Herrington may have only made four MLS appearances. However, the Colorado Rapids center-back is already reportedly on the radar of West Ham United. Herrington has burst onto the scene this season and scored in his second game for the Rapids against the Portland Timbers.
Before playing for the Rapids, Herrington was with the A-League side, the Brisbane Roar. he played 29 times for Brisbane, scoring twice. The 18-year-old has represented Australia at the Under-20 level. This included an appearance against Cuba at the U20 World Cup last year in Chile.
Ekrem Konur posted on X: "Colorado Rapids teen Lucas Herrington is already on the radar of Premier League clubs like West Ham & Everton. Scouts have been watching closely after a strong MLS start, though no formal talks have begun yet."
Lucas Herrington could be one for the future at West Ham
Due to West Ham's current precarious position in the Premier League, a move to Everton would appear more appealing for Herrington. The Hammers are currently in the relegation places, with just eight games of the season remaining. The Toffees are eighth, with an outside chance of qualifying for Europe.
West Ham's current center-back options are Dinos Mavropanos, Jean-Clair Todibo, Axel Disasi, Max Kilman, and Ezra Mayers. Mavropanos and Todibo have impressed this season. Disasi has done well since he arrived in January on loan from Chelsea. He wants to stay at the club, but only if the Hammers retain their place in the Premier League.
Kilman has endured a difficult campaign in a West Ham shirt. Mayers is only 19, but has already played six times in the Premier League for the Hammers. Herrington would likely be in the same boat as Mayers if he were to join the club, a prospect for the future.
