West Ham is interested in Germany international

West Ham United may still be in the relegation places, but this has not halted their transfer ambitions.

Signing a new center-back appears to be West Ham United's priority this summer. They have recently been linked with Lucas Herrington of the Colorado Rapids. However, Herrington is only 18 and would be considered one for the future. What West Ham needs is for a more experienced center-back to also join the club.

The transfer expert, Ekrem Konur, posted on X: "Aston Villa lead the race for Borussia Dortmund’s Waldemar Anton, who’s eager to test himself in the Premier League. Spurs and West Ham have also been scouting, with a potential €35–40m fee on the table."

Of course, Villa, who are currently fourth in the Premier League, would be a more attractive option for Anton. Spurs and West Ham, who are currently in a relegation battle, have a slimmer chance of signing Anton compared to Unai Emery's side.

Who is Waldemar Anton?

Anton was born in Uzbekistan, but moved to Germany when he was two. He came through the ranks at Hannover 96 before moving to Stuttgart. His form for Stuttgart led to him being signed by Borussia Dortmund.

This season, he has been a key player for Dortmund in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League. The Black and Yellow are currently second in German soccer's top flight, but lost to Atalanta in the Champions League playoff round.

The 29-year-old has 12 caps for Germany and has a chance at going to the World Cup this summer. Given his age, the upcoming transfer window could be his last chance at a move to the Premier League.
