Axel Disasi has been linked with a permanent move to West Ham United recently. However, the Frenchman staying beyond his loan seems unlikely. There are now reports that Adam Webster from Brighton & Hove Albion defender Adam Webster could join the club.
The Sun has reported, "West Ham are exploring a move for free agent Adam Webster."
Webster's contract with Brighton expires at the end of the month, and it could be time for him to drop back down to the Championship. With the Seagulls, he played 138 times in the Premier League. However, he has experience of English soccer's second tier with Ipswich Town, Bristol City, and Portsmouth.
The center-back is now 31, but he did not feature at all for Brighton last season due to a cruciate ligament injury. If he can prove his fitness, then Webster could help the Hammers in their quest to get back to the Premier League.
West Ham could have a very different defence next season
Disasi is set to return to Chelsea, and it was believed that he would only be interested in joining West Ham if they kept their place in the Premier League. He impressed during his loan spell in East London and has been linked with Leeds United and Benfica.
Dinos Mavropanos was a great partner for Disasi at the back. The Greek international won Hammer of the Year, and Borussia Dortmund is interested in him.
It does not look like Jean-Clair Todibo has a future at the club following a fallout with Nuno Espirito Santo. The player and manager clashed in the defeat to Newcastle United, where Todibo was taken off after 26 minutes. Apparently, the defender then refused to play against Leeds in the final game of the season. Moving to Olympique de Marseille is reportedly an option for the Frenchman.
Max Kilman had a disappointing campaign, with Nuno not playing him in the Premier League since January. He could find his level in the Championship, but he has no experience in the division. Kilman leapfrogged from the National League to the Premier League when he joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2018.
