West Ham United have had some great players from the Czech Republic over the years. Tomas Repka and Vladimir Coufal were great defenders for the club. Tomas Soucek is still starring for the Hammers.

Not all Czech players have succeeded at West Ham. Alex Král joined the club on loan from Spartak Moscow. However, he made just one Premier League appearance for the Hammers.

Now, another Czech international is being linked with a move to the London Stadium. SportsBoom has reported that "Facing a deficit of creative playmakers, Leeds and Everton have identified (Pavel) Šulc as one of their primary targets for the summer window.

"Similarly, West Ham United scouts, looking to bolster their rotations on the wings and behind the striker, were reportedly in the stands for four of the player's last five matches prior to his injury." The outlet also mentioned that Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart are also interested in Sulc.

Would Pavel Sulc be a good fit for West Ham?

Much of West Ham's recruitment depends on whether they can survive in the Premier League or not. As Sulc is currently playing top-flight soccer in France with Olympique Lyonnais, he would have no interest in joining the Hammers if they are in the Championship next season.

Sulc started his career at Viktoria Plzeň. He represented the Czech side 167 times, scoring 47 goals with 31 assists. Whilst at the club, he had loan spells at Vysočina Jihlava, Opava, České Budějovice, and Jablonec.

His form in the Czech Republic led to a transfer to Lyon last year. He has played 31 times for the Ligue 1 side, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists. This is despite his recent absence from matches due to a hamstring injury. However, he is now back, and supporters can watch his Lyon side face Celta Vigo in the Europa League tonight.

Sulc is predominantly an attacking midfielder, but he can also play centrally and as a striker. It would be very useful for the Hammers to have a player of his versatility in their ranks.
