There has been much speculation about Aaron Wan-Bissaka's future at West Ham United. He has now been linked with a surprise move to Arsenal.
There is a chance that Ben White could be leaving Arsenal this summer. The Gunners will need a replacement for him. TEAMtalk has reported that "Wan-Bissaka has emerged as a genuine option."
White played just 12 times for Arsenal in the Premier League last season. Jurrien Timber was their first choice as they won the division. What Mikel Arteta needs is a player who is happy to be Timber's backup.
Wan-Bissaka may be content with a bit-part role at the Emirates Stadium. Right now, he is set to play for West Ham in the Championship next season. However, there is a high chance that he could leave the Hammers this summer, as he has also been linked with Everton and Fenerbahce.
Where should Aaron Wan-Bissaka go?
At Everton, Wan-Bissaka would have a higher chance of playing regularly. Under David Moyes, he would be competing with the likes of Jake O'Brien and Nathan Patterson for a starting spot.
Leaving English soccer for Fenerbahce could be seen as a step down. However, he would start for the Turkish side and be on a team that challenges for the Süper Lig. At Fenerbahce, Wan-Bissaka would be part of a star-studded lineup that includes N'Golo Kante, Nathan Ake and Ederson.
Wan-Bissaka is only 28, so he should be in his prime. However, he did not pull up trees for the Hammers last season. He played in just 25 Premier League games, did not score, and provided three assists. The right-back even lost his place to Kyle Walker-Peters as the Hammers suffered relegation.
After coming through the ranks at Crystal Palace, he got a dream move to Manchester United. With the Red Devils, Wan-Bissaka won the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. Moving to Arsenal would allow him to add to his trophy cabinet, albeit he may not play regularly.
Wan-Bissaka has just helped the Democratic Republic of Congo reach the last 32 of the World Cup. There, they lost 2-1 to England. Wan-Bissaka played for England up to the Under-21 level. He even had a call-up to the Three Lions' senior side, but had to withdraw due to injury.
England currently has issues at right-back with Reece James injured and Jarell Quansah. If he had not switched his allegiance to DR Congo, then Wan-Bissaka may have been an option for England at the World Cup this summer.
