West Ham United play Brentford in the FA Cup on Monday night, which gives us a chance to look at some of the players who have represented both clubs.

The top five West Ham and Brentford players

5. Roger Cross

Roger Cross was born in East Ham and came through the ranks with the Hammers. However, he would play just eight times for West Ham before being transferred to Brentford in 1969. Cross became a key player for the Bees across two different spells with the club. He had a brief spell at Fulham between the two stints.

Cross then played in the North American Soccer League for the Seattle Sounders before ending his playing career with Millwall. Cross then became academy manager at Millwall. He also managed Tottenham Hotspur's reserves. Cross also worked as an assistant at both West Ham and Queens Park Rangers.

He then worked as a scout for West Ham and Southend United. He only stopped scouting for Southend in 2020.

4. Billy Dare

Billy Dare started his career with Hendon before transferring to Brentford. He would spend seven years with the Bees before joining West Ham in 1955. The forward helped the Hammers win the Second Division in the 1957/58 campaign.

Dare went on to play for Yiewsley (now Hillingdon Borough) before managing Ruislip Manor (now London Rangers). He passed away in 1994 at the age of 67.

3. John Dick

John Dick was born in Scotland but moved down south for national service. He played for Crittall Athletic (now Braintree Town) before joining West Ham. The forward was a long-serving player for the Hammers between 1953 and 1962.

After West Ham, he played for Brentford, whom he helped win the Fourth Division. He finished his career with Gravesend & Northfleet (now Ebbsfleet United). After retiring, he was the boss of the West Ham Juniors. Dick passed away in the year 2000, at the age of 70.

2. Said Benrahma

Said Benrahma arrived at Brentford from Nice in 2018 and became a key player in the Championship. He scored 30 goals with 26 assists in 94 games for the Bees.

The Algerian then got his move to the Premier League with West Ham. He helped the Hammers win the Europa Conference League, where he scored from the spot in the final against Fiorentina.

The winger made 155 appearances for the Hammers, where he found the back of the net 24 times and provided 20 assists. He now plays in the Saudi Pro League for Neom SC.

1. Winston Reid

Winston Reid may have only made 11 appearances for Brentford at the end of his career. However, his contribution to West Ham makes him top the list.

His first season with the Hammers was difficult as they were relegated from the Premier League. West Ham bounced back from this by winning promotion via the playoffs. During that campaign, Reid scored a memorable goal to defeat bitter rivals Millwall at Upton Park.

Reid played a key role in West Ham's return to the Premier League. He even scored the last-ever goal at Upton Park. Unfortunately, his career petered out towards the end with loans to Sporting Kansas City and Brentford. Although he did help the Bees gain promotion to the Premier League through the playoffs.

His final game was as a substitute in the playoff final at Wembley in Brentford's 2-0 win over Swansea City. Since retiring, the New Zealander has become an investor in Auckland FC.
