Last week, transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano reported that West Ham submitted more than one bid for Aston Villa's 20-year-old emerging forward, Jhon Duran. Personal terms were also said to have been agreed with the player.
The next full week saw no progress being made on the deal with several reports saying West Ham have turned their attention to La Liga's £25 million inform striker instead. The Hammers interest in Duran also seemed to be fading away like Chelsea who were highly enthusiastic about the player one month ago but Villa taking longer to work out the deal saw Chelsea move away from the Colombian forward.
West Ham receive massive boost in their pursuit of £31 million striker
But recently West Ham have received a major boost in their hopes to land the 20-year-old striker. According to Italian outlet, AreaNapoli, the clubs may agree on a deal for around £31 million. The report describes this move as an important transfer, saying,
""Lopetegui will have reason to be happy.AreaNapoli
Mister Julen Lopetegui will have reason to be happy, with such a promising boy under his command in the next championship"."
This comes as a major relief for Julen Lopetegui's side who are desperate for a new number nine from next season considering their striker options of Danny Ings and Michail Antonio struggled for goals last season.
With uncertainties surrounding the situation of star playmaker Lucas Paqueta's future, the Hammers need more attacking reinforcements to score more goals next season in their push for a top-six spot in the 2024/25 Premier League. Now a new centre-back and a right-back are the club's priority to secure their defence for the upcoming 2024/25 season as well.
