West Ham are in the race to sign a potential deal to sign Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth from Villarreal who has a £25m release clause according to a report by AS. While negotiations between the clubs have yet to start, West Ham has engaged in advanced discussions with the 28-year-old’s representatives.

West Ham, under manager Julen Lopetegui, are evaluating Sorloth among a host of candidates to reinforce their forward line alongside Mohammed Kudus who they signed last season from Ajax. The Norwegian forward had a release clause of £32 million, however it has been reduced to £25 million and that could simplify the transfer for the Hammers but they face competition from top European clubs abroad who are also monitoring the striker.

Sorloth, who is a regular in the Norwegian attack alongside Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is attracting significant interest after a brilliant 2023-24 campaign with Villarreal. The Norwegian forward has had an excellent season at Villarreal, netting 26 goals and providing six assists in the 2023/24 season.

West Ham have expressed their desire to sign a forward with manager Julen Lopetegui hoping to bring in a new striker to go into the 2023/24 season. Thus, West Ham entered the race for Aston Villa's highly sought-after forward, Jhon Duran, however, that interest hasn't materialised yet.

This can prompt the Hammers to look elsewhere and at the moment Alexander Sorloth seems a top deal on the market with his rich vein of form. It remains to be seen if the club submits an official bid to sign Sorloth. Elsewhere, the Hammers' bid for Nice's Jean-Clair Todibo has been accepted with personal terms yet to be agreed.
