West Ham have been very active in the transfer market over the past week or so. Three signings are over the line, with the club bringing in young Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme, 33-year-old keeper Wes Foderingham and £40 million centre-back Max Kilman. Alphonse Areola is expected to be the number one as usual while Wes Foderingham has been signed to provide cover for the French goalkeeper.

And moves for Aston Villa's young forward Jhon Duran and Nice's Jean-Clair Todibo are yet to be materialized. On the other hand, three players have already left West Ham permanently. Said Benrahma has joined Lyon, Thilo Kehrer has signed for Monaco and Ben Johnson left for Premier League new boys Ipswich Town.

Now, it looks like Nayef Aguerd is going to become the fourth player to leave the Hammers this summer. And La Liga appears to be his next destination, where he will be playing for Atletico Madrid under the management of Diego Simeone.

As tweeted by trusted journalist, Santi Aouna, Aguerd is on the radar of Atletico after the Los Rojiblancos are finding the David Hancko deal as complicated. The La Liga side are in need of a new centre-back with Mario Hermoso and Stefan Savic leaving the club this summer.

Speaking on Atletico's interest, Santi Aouna said,

"Atlético Madrid is ready to offer a loan with a non-mandatory buy option. West Ham wants either outright transfer or loan with mandatory buy option."

Aguerd's exit will not be viewed as a blow for West Ham. In his two seasons at the club, the Moroccan international is yet to convince the Hammers board with his performances and the club will be willing to sell him for around £25-30 million, similar to what they paid Rennes to sign the centre-back two years ago.

Brought in as a smart signing, it is confusing why Aguerd couldn't thrive at West Ham. His performances in the FIFA World Cup 2022 proves that he is a great defender but unable to adapt to Premier League's physicality.

Hopefully, he will have a better time under Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid and West Ham would be willing to cash in on the defender to make way for new additions if their valuation is met.
