West Ham had their second offer of loan with an option to buy for £27 million accepted by Nice for centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo. However, with Juventus also showing their interest in the defender has led Todibo to wait for Juve to match West Ham's bid.

This is worrying news for the Hammers who see Todibo as the ideal defensive partner for new £40 million summer signing, Max Kilman. Now, according to a latest report from L'Equipe, a Premier League club is monitoring the developments surrounding Todibo and can outbid West Ham for the player.

The club in question is Aston Villa. The Unai Emery led side have been on an upward trajectory in the Premier League since their promotion from the Championship five years ago. Last season, Villa finished inside the top four securing Champions League football for this 2024/25 season.

Until a few weeks ago, Aston Villa were busy selling players to comply with the Premier League's PSR rule. And the sale of star midfielder Douglas Luiz to Juventus helped them to be able to spend again on new signings after complying with the PSR rule.

Currently, Aston Villa have the required funds to match West Ham's bid and Unai Emery's side also offer Champions League football to Todibo similar to Juventus. So if Villa can convince the player to leave Juventus and play the same top quality football at the Villa Park then the Hammers need to look at other alternatives.

However, Villa's interest in Todibo is still in its early stages but it won't be much difficult for them to agree personal terms with the French defender and match West Ham's bid to Nice.
