After two months of international tournaments, new signings and preseason, West Ham started their new 2024/25 Premier League campaign. West Ham made eight new signings, but manager Julen Lopetegui started only two new signings, Max Kilman and Guido Rodriguez. Other new players like Cryscencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug and Jean-Clair Todibo came as a second half substitute.

Max Kilman

In the defence, Max Kilman was the standout performer for West Ham. The English defender made seven clearances in the game and made a huge block to deny Villa from making the score 2-0 inside the first half.

Kilman played 62 out of 73 accurate passes throughout the 90 minutes and his build up play from the defence was impressive. In the last five minutes of the match, West Ham looked more organized in defence with the centre back partnership of Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo.
