Coming into this season, West Ham have a new manager Julen Lopetegui. On top of that, the Hammers have made eight new signings including world class players like Jean-Clair Todibo, Niclas Fullkrug, Guido Rodriguez and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Hence, West Ham fans are truly excited for the new Premier League season.

After an underwhelming season finishing ninth and not qualifying for European football, much is expected from Julen Lopetegui's first season as West Ham manager. The Hammers started their new Premier League campaign with a home fixture against Unai Emery's Aston Villa.

However, West Ham conceded the opening goal inside five minutes as new signing Amadou Onana scored Villa's first goal of the new season. With ten minutes remaining in the first half, West Ham made it 1-1 as star player Lucas Paqueta scored the penalty to level the game before half time.

However, Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran who was very close to sign for West Ham, made it 2-1 for Villa to win the game. Thus, West Ham have started their new season with a 2-1 defeat. Recently, former Chelsea and West Ham star Joe Cole revealed his predictions for West Ham in the Premier League season. The English forward predicted the Hammers to finish inside top ten in the league table.

While West Ham are aiming for a top six finish, a seventh or eighth place finish should be considered a good season. The club has brought in a new manager and have made eight signings, thus this season the club should try to perform well as a team and improve their overall performance. Meanwhile, the club wants to make a few signings in this transfer window. Thus, West Ham are considering signing Roma striker Tammy Abraham to bolster their attack.
