Crysencio Summerville looks set to depart West Ham United this summer. His replacement could be Leicester City's Abdul Fatawu.

The Standard has reported "West Ham are interested in Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu... Fatawu has been identified as a cut-price option after Leicester’s demotion to League One."

Fatawu scored nine goals with eight assists in 44 Championship games last season. This was for a side that was relegated, so he should be more prolific at West Ham, who are looking to earn promotion back to the Premier League.

The winger won the Championship with Leicester during the 2023/24 season. However, he has now suffered back-to-back relegations with the Foxes. Before playing for Leicester, Fatawu was with Sporting CP, who he represented in the Europa League.

He is a Ghanaian international at the World Cup. Fatawu has played in both of Ghana's games at the tournament so far. This includes him coming on as a substitute as they drew 0-0 with England.

West Ham may need more than just Abdul Fatawu

West Ham will face competition for his services; he has also been linked with Besiktas, Everton, and RB Leipzig. Besiktas would offer him the chance to play in the Europa League again. Leipzig go one better as they are in the Champions League next season.

The player would also want another chance in the Premier League. Everton could offer this, but they will not be in Europe next campaign. The Toffees are also interested in West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen. Therefore, Fatawu could be a replacement not just for Summerville but for Bowen, too. Fatawu's preferred position is on the right wing, but he can also play on the left.

Summerville's stock is rising as he continues to star at the World Cup. In the Netherlands' three group games, he scored two goals and set up one. They will play Morocco in the next round, which will be a tough game as the North African side got to the semi-finals of the last tournament.

The Dutch international has plenty of suitors, including the likes of Manchester United, AS Roma, AC Milan, and Olympique Marseille. If the Hammers let both Summerville and Bowen go, then they will need to recruit more than just Fatawu. They have also been linked with the likes of Reiss Nelson, Amario Cozier-Duberry, and Dwight McNeil.
