Five West Ham United players were at the World Cup this summer. Only one did not make it to the knockout stages: Tomas Soucek. It has not been a good tournament for Soucek, who has suffered an ankle injury that could keep him out of action for some time. His Czech Republic side finished bottom of Group A and were eliminated.
4 West Ham players still at the World Cup for the Round of 32
π²π½ Mexico, Edson Alvarez. The midfielder was on loan at Fenerbahce last season. Despite missing much of the campaign due to injury, he has still starred for his country at the World Cup. He has featured in all three of their games and captained them on two occasions. They will play Ecuador in the round of 32.
π³π± Netherlands, Crysencio Summerville. The winger has been heavily linked with a move away from West Ham this summer. He is boosting his price tag by scoring twice and making one assist already at the World Cup. His Netherlands side will play Morocco next.
πΈπ³ Senegal, El Hadji Malick Diouf. The left-back played in both of Senegal's opening games, which they lost. He was then benched as the African side defeated Iraq in their final group game. Senegal faces Belgium in the round of 32.
π¨π© DR Congo, Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The right-back played for England up to the Under-21 level. He also had a call for the senior side but had to withdraw due to injury. Wan-Bissaka then switched his international allegiance to DR Congo, who the Three Lions play next. At the World Cup so far, Wan-Bissaka has been the African side's starting right-back in all three of their group stage games.
