The last time there was a winning team between West Ham and Blackburn in a league match was August 30, 2008, when the Hammers won 4-1. Callum Davenport, Craig Bellamy, Carlton Cole, and an own goal from Chris Samba won it for West Ham. Cole's goal was set up by the now West Ham head coach, Scott Parker. That victory would have felt sweet to Hammers fans, as Blackburn's manager at the time was West Ham hero-turned-villain Paul Ince.
Two draws in the 2010/11 season were more points dropped for the Hammers as they were relegated from the Premier League. Blackburn would survive that campaign, but would drop down the following season. They went down when West Ham were going back up via the Championship playoffs.
An FA Cup meeting at Ewood Park in the 2015/16 season saw an emphatic win for the Hammers. Emenike and Payet both bagged braces. That was in the final campaign at Upton Park, and West Ham would go on to lose to Manchester United in the quarter-finals. The Red Devils then went on to beat Everton before defeating Crystal Palace in the final. Many Hammers fans believed that they could win the FA Cup that season. However, the Hammers would get their revenge on Man United by defeating them dramatically in the final game at Upton Park.
The last meeting between West Ham and Blackburn was in the EFL Cup in 2022. Then, David Moyes' side was defeated 10-9 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Angelo Ogbonna missed the decisive penalty as his effort hit the crossbar.
