In today's West Ham United transfer rumours, James Ward-Prowse has been linked with a return to Southampton. Jean-Clair Todibo could be on his way to Aston Villa, and West Ham target Jacques Ekomié is set for a move to Wrexham.

James Ward-Prowse linked with return to Southampton

Ward-Prowse was not in the West Ham squad that defeated Southampton in the EFL Cup this week. It could be that the former Saints player is set for a return to St. Mary's Stadium.

Mike McGrath of The Telegraph posted on X: "Southampton have made contact with West Ham over a deal to bring James Ward-Prowse back to the club. The 31yo midfielder left SaintsFC three years ago. Loaned last season and WHUFC assessing next move ."

The player has had a complicated relationship with Nuno Espírito Santo. Nuno froze him out when he was on loan at Nottingham Forest from West Ham. Then, when Nuno became West Ham boss, Ward-Prowse again did not feature and was sent on loan to Burnley.

He has featured in two of West Ham's games this season. However, a return to Southampton, where he has spent 13 years of his career, would be fitting. If the Hammers were to let him go, it would leave them considerably light on midfield options.

Aston Villa could come in for Jean-Clair Todibo

Todibo needs to get a transfer away from West Ham after falling out with Nuno at the end of last season. He has been linked with Olympique Marseille, Atlanta, and Juventus. However, the defender could be set for a return to the Premier League.

The Daily Mail has reported, "Aston Villa have asked about West Ham defender Jean-Clair Todibo as they search for a centre back to replace Ezri Konsa."

Villa missed Konsa massively as they lost 4-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion on the opening weekend of the Premier League. Whilst he underperformed with West Ham last season, Todibo is only 26, and Villa are desperate to shore up their defence.

West Ham target joins Wrexham

West Ham have agreed to sell El Hadji Malick Diouf to Brentford. Oliver Scarles is now the Hammers' only senior left-back. The Hammers need to replace Diouf, and that could have been done by signing Ekomié. However, he has joined Wrexham.

Wrexham announced on their official pages, "We’re delighted to announce signing of Jacques Ekomié from Angers SCO for an undisclosed fee." It remains to be seen who West Ham could target now as an alternative left-back.
