Recently, West Ham registered a much-needed last-minute 2-1 home win against Erik Ten Hag's Manchester United. Although the Hammers were unconvincing while defending in the first half, Julen Lopetegui’s side managed to keep the half-time score at 0-0.
In the second half, Cryscencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen scored for West Ham to guide the Hammers to their third Premier League win this season. On that note, here are the three West Ham players that were impressive in the thrilling 2-1 home win.
West Ham's three best players from the massive 2-1 win against Manchester United
Cryscencio Summerville
The 22-year-old promising winger has been given very limited Premier League playing time at West Ham since joining the Hammers in a £25 million transfer move. Summerville scored 21 goals for Leeds United last season as they narrowly missed on achieving Premier League promotion due to a 1-0 defeat in the playoff final.
In the absence of star forward Mohammed Kudus, Summerville was expected to start the Manchester United match, however Lopetegui preferred to play Carlos Soler instead on the left flank. In the second half, Lopetegui brought Summerville and the second half substitute displayed his impressive pace and dribbling to help West Ham in creating more goalscoring opportunities around the edge of the box.
With fifteenth minutes remaining in the match, Summerville made a good run inside the box to score his first West Ham goal and give the home side a 1-0 lead. The Hammers secured the three points from this match and Summerville was the standout performer for Julen Lopetegui’s side throughout the match.
