After scoring the first goal, a lot of West Ham fans were left surprised with the full-time 4-1 defeat. Even at half-time, the Hammers were level with Tottenham Hotspurs at 1-1 and their midfield and defence looked in a good form. However, the home side were brilliant in the second half and took a massive 4-1 lead until the hour mark in the match.

Several West Ham players were unsatisfied with their overall performance and Hammers goalscorer Mohammed Kudus received a red card as well. Kudus hasn't enjoyed a great start to the season for both club and country, and thus was visibly disappointed by West Ham's defending throughout the second half.

Later, Kudus fouled Tottenham Hotspurs stars Micky Van De Ven and Pape Matar Sarr, and hence, was given a straight red-card by the referee. The Premier League gives a three-match suspension to any player who receives a straight red-card, however, Kudus could face a two-month suspension as well.

Recently, former Premier League referee Mike Dean analysed the 24-year-old forward's foul, saying,

"Because he’s hit two different players in the face on two occasions. He should do. I think he’ll get done twice."

Dean highlighted that Kudus fouled two players, and therefore, could receive two different three-match suspensions. If that happens to be the case, Kudus will miss six matches for Julen Lopetegui's side, meaning, he will be available to play against Wolves in December.

Five of the next six matches are massively important fixtures for West Ham and could decide Julen Lopetegui's managerial future at the club. Therefore, a star player such as Mohammed Kudus being unavailable for these league matches is a significant blow to West Ham's top-six Premier League finish ambitions.

The Hammers have been largely inconsistent with their finishing in front of goal and now, manager Julen Lopetegui will need to implement a new formation to resolve West Ham's goalscoring issues.
