West Ham United have been linked with many players as they prepare for life in the Championship. They are reportedly interested in Arsenal's Reiss Nelson.

This is according to ExWHUEmployee on The West Ham Way.

Nelson has been with Arsenal since 2017, but has only made 90 first-team appearances for the club in this time. The winger has been sent on loan to Hoffenheim, Feyenoord, Fulham, and was with Brentford in the season just passed.

He made just 10 Premier League appearances for the Bees, without scoring, but did make one assist, which came in a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United. This record will not tempt other Premier League clubs to take a chance on him.

It is also almost impossible that Arsenal, who have just won the title, will give Nelson another chance. Nelson has just one year left on his Arsenal contract, and it could be time for him to drop down to the Championship.

Reiss Nelson could be a good fit for West Ham

It has not worked out for Nelson at three Premier League clubs. However, he has had fairly successful campaigns in the Bundesliga and the Eredivisie. The 2018/19 campaign with Hoffenheim was his best, during which he scored 7 goals in 23 league matches.

His form in Germany earned him a chance back with Arsenal who he won the FA Cup in 2020. However, he did not come off the bench in the final against Chelsea.

Nelson was capped by England from Under-16s all the way to the U21 level. However, he is now 26 and needs to be playing regularly.

He is predominantly a left-winger, which could be very useful for West Ham as Crysencio Summerville is expected to depart the club this summer. Nelson is versatile as he can also play on the right and in an attacking midfield role. This could make him a dangerous option for Nuno Espirito Santo as the Hammers look to bounce back to the Premier League.
