West Ham United played a back three yesterday to nullify Manchester City's attacks. Dinos Mavropanos, Jean-Clair Todibo, and Axel Disasi did a very good job in stopping Erling Haaland to ensure the Hammers claimed a crucial 1-1 draw.

Mavropanos and Todibo are both at West Ham permanently. However, Disasi is only on loan at the club from Chelsea. There is currently no option for West Ham to sign him permanently. This is despite the player wanting to stay if Nuno Espirito Santo's side remains in the Premier League.

The Hammers are already looking at other potential center-back recruits. Ekrem Konur posted on X: "West Ham United are monitoring Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez. Rangers → willing to sell for suitable price. West Ham → planning multiple CB additions for 2026/27 season."

Would Emmanuel Fernandez be a good fit for West Ham United?

Fernandez has done the rounds in British soccer. He was a youth player at Brentford before joining Gillingham. Whilst with the Gills, he had loans at Margate and Sheppey United. He was released by Gillingham and went on to play for Ramsgate before joining Peterborough United.

Peterborough loaned him out to Spalding and Barnet, but he went on to 61 times for the Posh. This led to Rangers taking a chance on him this season. This campaign, he has played 25 times for the Gers and scored 7 goals, which is impressive for a center-back.

He has experience in the lower divisions of English soccer and at a massive club in Scotland. Fernandez is 24 now, so it could be time for him to test himself in the Premier League.
