Although West Ham United and Arsenal are London rivals, crossing the divide is not as unpopular as going from either side to or from Tottenham Hotspur. Therefore, many big-name players have represented both the Hammers and the Gunners.

The top five West Ham and Arsenal players

1. Declan Rice

It is rare to see a current player make one of these lists. However, Declan Rice deserves his place for the success he has had and will continue to have in his career.

After being released by Chelsea, Rice came through the ranks at West Ham. He went on to succeed Mark Noble as the club's captain and then win the Europa Conference League.

Rice then joined Arsenal for £100 million. Whilst he is yet to win a major trophy with the Gunners, he has a very good opportunity to do so this season with his side top of the Premier League and into the Champions League final.

2. Ian Wright

Ian Wright is an Arsenal legend for the number of goals he scored for them. He held the club's record with 185 until Thierry Henry broke it. Wright won the Premier League, two FA Cups, the League Cup, and the European Cup Winners' Cup with the Gunners.

Wright then joined West Ham, where he was part of the side that lifted the Intertoto Cup. In total, he scored nine goals in 22 Premier League games for the Hammers before joining Nottingham Forest on loan. Wright went on to play for Celtic and Burnley before retiring and becoming a popular figure in the media.

3. Łukasz Fabiański

Łukasz Fabiański was with Arsenal for seven years but only made 32 Premier League appearances. However, he was a very good cup goalkeeper and was in the net when the Gunners won the FA Cup in 2014.

Fabiański then joined West Ham, and he went on to play 195 times for them in England's top flight. He was on the bench as the Hammers won the Europa Conference League. He is still a West Ham player as he was re-signed last summer, but has been out for much of this season with a back injury.

4. Nigel Winterburn

Nigel Winterburn was part of Arsenal's famous back four alongside Tony Adams, Steve Bould, and Lee Dixon. He won the First Division twice, the Premier League, the FA Cup twice, the League Cup, and the European Cup Winners' Cup with the Gunners.

Winterburn also squared up to Paolo Di Canio after the Italian had been sent off whilst playing for Sheffield Wednesday against Arsenal. The two players went on to become teammates at West Ham. Winterburn played 92 times for the Hammers before retiring.

5. Alex Song

Alex Song was a top midfielder for the Gunners, but was with them at a time when they were selling their best players to other clubs. Song himself was snapped up by Barcelona. However, he lacked game time at the Camp Nou.

Song then joined West Ham on loan, which was a coup for the club. His first loan was successful under Sam Allardyce. His second was not so much with Slaven Bilic at the helm. His career then petered out; he was with Rubin Kazan, Sion, and then AS Arta/Solar7 before retiring.
