There has been much speculation about Jarrod Bowen's future at West Ham United. Now, talkSPORT's Andy Goldstein has revealed that he will be going to Aston Villa.
Goldstein said on talkSPORT, "This will happen. I can't tell you my sources. This will happen. You ready for this? Here you go. Jarrod Bowen to Aston Villa. Heard it here first. Breaking news."
Bowen has been linked with Villa recently. They need a new right winger as Jadon Sancho was only on loan at the club last season. Leon Bailey was loaned to AS Roma in the last campaign. They also have the young Brazilian, Alysson, but he has made just three appearances since he arrived at the club in January. Whilst Emiliano Buendía and Lewis Dobbin are predominantly left-wingers.
With West Ham, Bowen has competed in the Europa League and won the Europa Conference League. Villa would allow him to play in the Champions League and continue in the Premier League. It is crucial for Bowen's future England career that he plays top-flight soccer. He was left out of Thomas Tuchel's roster for the World Cup, but will have ambitions of representing the Three Lions again.
Who else has Jarrod Bowen been linked with?
A reunion with David Moyes at Everton has been rumored, too. However, the Toffees will need to raise their reported £20 million bid for the player. Everton also does not have European soccer, but Bowen could fit in well back in Moyes' side. They would need a player like him, especially if Iliman Ndiaye departs this summer.
Liverpool is also much farther from London than Birmingham is. Therefore, Villa would be a better move for Bowen from a personal level with his young family. He is married into a notable West Ham supporting family, as his wife is the daughter of Hammers fan and actor Danny Dyer.
Many West Ham fans will want him to stay at the London Stadium and help the club get back to the Premier League. However, his service for the Hammers has been incredible since he arrived from Hull City in 2020. He scored the winning goal in the Conference League and has captained the side.
Bowen has been criticized for not being the most vocal of leaders. Therefore, a fresh start for West Ham with a new leader in the Championship could be positive if Bowen departs. However, it is unclear who the next captain could be, especially with Tomas Soucek now potentially out with a long-term ankle injury.
