Taty Castellanos was one of the few bright sparks for West Ham United this season. However, his time at the Hammers could be coming to an end with Everton reportedly interested in the Argentine.
According to Football Insider, "Everton are one of a number of Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on Taty Castellanos as he is expected to leave West Ham this summer."
Castellanos joined West Ham from Lazio in January, but was unable to emulate his countryman Carlos Tevez in keeping the club in the Premier League. The striker scored seven goals in 22 games in all competitions for the Hammers, but did not provide an assist.
Highs included a brace against Wolverhampton Wanderers and a spectacular goal against Newcastle United. Despite his best efforts, the Hammers were ultimately relegated from the Premier League.
With his pedigree, Castellanos will feel that he is a Premier League. Despite being from Argentina, he began his career with Universidad de Chile before playing for the Uruguayan side Torque, who are part of the City Football Group.
Would Taty Castellanos be a good fit for Everton?
New York City FC was his next destination, where he MLS Cup. He then got his chance in Europe with Girona, who are also part of CFG's empire. His loan in La Liga with Girona led to his move to Lazio.
Interestingly, Everton is the team mentioned to be keeping tabs on Castellanos. David Moyes' side has been linked with many West Ham players recently, including Jarrod Bowen, Tomas Soucek, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Toffees could do with a top center-forward, as Beto scored nine goals with one assist in 37 Premier League games this season. Thierno Barry managed eight goals without setting one up in 38 matches. These are not terrible records, but Castellanos managed six top-flight goals in 18 games for a club that ended up being relegated.
The player who has two caps for Argentina would fancy his chances to at least double his tally with a full season at a team higher in the division. Moyes' side ended the season finishing in 13th place, but was only four points off the last European place.
Ambitions at Everton will be high as they are now at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium. Signing a player such as Castellanos would help the Toffees get to the next level. The other Premier League clubs interested in Castellanos have not been named, but he has been linked with Leeds United and Brighton & Hove Albion in the past.
