Tomas Soucek was recently stripped of the Czech Republic captaincy. This was due to the West Ham United midfielder and others not acknowledging their supporters in a 6-0 win over Gibraltar last November.

Despite this, Soucek still appeared as a substitute in Czechia's win over Ireland on penalties in the World Cup playoffs last night. Soucek came on for Vladimír Darida just after half-time and converted his spot kick after a 2-2 draw after extra time. They will play Denmark in the playoff final for a chance to compete at the tournament in North America this summer.

There have been conflicting reports about Soucek's future at West Ham recently. He has been a great player for the club since joining initially on loan from Slavia Prague in 2020. The midfielder was a key part of the side that won the Europa Conference League.

His current contract at West Ham expires in 2027, and there are doubts as to whether the deal will be renewed or not. Of course, a lot will depend on whether West Ham remains a Premier League side this season.

Where could Tomas Soucek go if he were to leave West Ham?

Soucek had been linked with moves to Turkey; Galatasaray and Besiktas are reportedly both keen on signing him. However, a move to Everton remains on the cards, particularly as David Moyes is their manager.

Under Moyes, Soucek scored 32 goals, with 11 assists in 207 games for West Ham. He has played for Moyes more than any other manager and owes the Scotsman a great deal. According to Football Insider, "Moyes is pushing to secure a move for West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek this summer."

Moyes has done a good job since returning to the Toffees; he currently has them eighth in the Premier League. They have an outside chance of qualifying for Europe, which would make the move to Everton tempting for Soucek.

The pair had great success on the continent with West Ham, and could do so again in the colors of Everton. Losing Soucek would be a huge blow for the Hammers.
