What does Aaron Wan-Bissaka's injury mean for West Ham

Recently, West Ham's transfer activity has gained momentum. With the signings of Cryscencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug and Guido Rodriguez, West Ham have addressed several positions of the squad that needed reinforcements. However, one area of the squad still needs to be improved.

Right back has been among the top priorities for Julen Lopetegui's squad ever since the transfer window opened. West Ham shortlisted Manchester United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka as the preferred option among other options like Southampton's Kyle Walker-Peters and Bayern Munich's Noussair Mazraoui. Wan-Bissaka also agreed personal terms with the Hammers and the clubs are very close to reaching an agreement for Wan-Bissaka's transfer.

However, there are some doubts over the transfer to go through. In Manchester United's 3-0 defeat in the preseason friendly against Liverpool, Aaron Wan-Bissaka was substituted off in the second half due to an apparent injury. With only ten minutes remaining in the game, Wan-Bissaka felt some discomfort and United manager Erik Ten Hag decided to replace the fullback with academy talent James Scanlon.

The extent of the injury is still unknown, however it doesn't seem something of a big injury. Still, the Premier League season kicks off in under two weeks now and West Ham would hope that Wan-Bissaka doesn't have to miss the opening games of the season.

Despite United's defeat to Liverpool, Wan-Bissaka was a reliable presence at the right back making two interceptions and two tackles in the match. Thus, West Ham need to complete the signing of Wan-Bissaka quickly so as to give him some time to integrate in Julen Lopetegui's possession style football along with the new signings.
