West Ham's promising midfielder Lewis Orford has put pen to paper on a new five year contract at the London Stadium. The 18-year-old, who can play both as a box-to-box midfielder as well as a creative playmaker had been on the radar of several Premier League clubs like Crystal Palace and Aston Villa in this summer transfer window. Last month, Orford was very close to join Aston Villa as West Ham offered the young midfielder alongside £32 million and sell on clause to sign Villa forward Jhon Duran.

However, Villa rejected the bid and West Ham signed Niclas Fullkrug as the new centre forward. Now, according to The Athletic, Orford has signed his new five year West Ham contract that will run until the summer of 2029. Coming through the youth ranks at West Ham, Orford has been turning heads with his performances.

The young Englishman’s versatility caught the eye of new manager Julen Lopetegui during the club's pre-season campaign. Against Wolves in the Sunshine State Tour match, Orford showcased his ability to adapt to various positions on the pitch. Alongside Freddie Potts, Orford was among the best players for the Hammers in that match.

Overall, Orford has made 88 appearances while playing for West Ham's U18 and U21 teams scoring 19 goals and providing 28 assists. Lopetegui’s focus on bringing young talent into the first team has played a crucial role in the Hammers decision to give a new five year contract to Orford.
