West Ham’s best front three lineup for this season
By Rahul Das
West Ham have scored only five goals this season from the first four matches. Julen Lopetegui’s side have scored in every match, but considering the star studded forwards West Ham have, they should more goals in every match. Against Aston Villa, West Ham didn't created much chances in the first half and should have equalised in the second half as Tomas Soucek came very close to scoring a goal in the last minute of the game.
Also, in the Bournemouth match, West Ham should have scored a few goals in the first half and the decision making was underwhelming inside the final third. West Ham have added Cryscencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug this summer, to the squad which already had Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen. However, manager Julen Lopetegui hasn't played the best front three in attack despite having these quality players.
West Ham’s best front three lineup for this season
Firstly, Michail Antonio is 34-years-old and has struggled with pace and fitness since last season. Also, he has made some heavy touches in the box and overall, hasn't been at his best form in the first four matches. Therefore, one of Jarrod Bowen and Niclas Fullkrug should start as the centre forward after the international break.
This will allow Mohammed Kudus to play on the right wing, as the left footed forward prefers to play on the right side or as a central playmaker behind the striker. On the left flank, Cryscencio Summerville should start as his blistering pace and dribbling will improve the attack. Lucas Paqueta will play as the playmaker alongside Edson Alvarez and Carlos Soler who will help Paqueta in getting more ball possession to make several key passes around the box for the forwards to score more goals.
Also, Fullkrug should be started as the centre forward in the first few matches after the international break and then manager Julen Lopetegui should decide between him or Bowen to play as the centre forward throughout the season.
