In the first four Premier League matches, West Ham have four points with a win and a draw alongside two defeats against Aston Villa and Manchester City. The Hammers are currently fourteenth in the league table, which is decent considering they have played against UEFA Champions League side Aston Villa and Premier League defending Champions Manchester City already in the beginning of the season. Recently Julen Lopetegui's side managed to take a 1-1 draw against Fulham with a last minute equaliser scored by Danny Inga, but the overall performance was underwhelming and thus, the upcoming matchday is important for West Ham.

In the fifth match, West Ham will face Chelsea in their third home fixture of the Premier League season. Enzo Maresca’s side also started their season with a defeat, however they have taken two wins and a draw that includes a massive 6-2 win against Wolves. Moreover, the Hammers have faced both league defeats against Villa and City in the home matches and thus Julen Lopetegui's side need a win at the London Stadium to boost their momentum.

Last season, West Ham took a 3-1 win in the home fixture against Chelsea but faced a massive 5-0 away defeat towards the end of the season. Nicolas Jackson was the star player for Chelsea in that match with his two goals and an assist on Cole Palmer's opening goal. Further, the Blues were one of the most consistent teams in the second half of the last season and took the three points on a regular basis to qualify for the UEFA Conference League despite a struggling start to their Premier League campaign.

With the likes of star players like Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson alongside talented stars such as Joao Felix and Noni Madueke who have been brilliant for Chelsea in the new season, the Blues are currently a quality Premier League side. Hence, Julen Lopetegui's side will need to give a much better performance as compared to the Fulham game to take some points from this match.
