Recently, West Ham took a massive 4-1 win over Ipswich Town at home in the Premier League. Although the Hammers scored four goals at the London Stadium, the match was evenly balanced until Mohammed Kudus scored the header on the rebound just before the end of the first half. Julen Lopetegui's side took the early lead in the first minute of the match but then looked highly likely to go behind before half-time after the visitors scored the 1-1 equaliser.
It was a much similar defensive performance from West Ham since the beginning of the year, where they misplaced passes and left the forwards unmarked inside the final third while defending. Ipswich Town scored their first goal in a similar way, with Lucas Paqueta allowing Liam Delap's near-post attempt to reach towards Areola, which found the back of the net. Moreover, Paqueta didn't even tried to win the ball possession from the initial corner, which gave Ipswich Town a chance to comeback into the match.
Tony Gale unsatisfied with West Ham's goalscorer in Ipswich Town win
Fifteen minutes later, Paqueta left Omari Hutchinson unmarked as well, who attempted his long-range effort which was saved by Areola. Although West Ham went on to score four goals in the match with Paqueta scoring the fourth after a brilliant pass from Jarrod Bowen, the result could have been different had Ipswich Town scored another goal in the first half. This defensive display from Paqueta left former West Ham centre-back Tony Gale unsatisfied, who discussed Paqueta's performance saying that the 28-year-old was lazy in the match.
Since the second half of the previous season, Paqueta hasn't been in a great goalscoring form and often gives away ball possession around the middle of the park. Moreover, Paqueta isn't a reliable defensive option and doesn't track back to help the defence while defending. Therefore, there are several transfer rumours surrounding Paqueta and West Ham can look to sell the former Lyon star if a good transfer offer comes in the January transfer window.
