Forwards return to form as West Ham win 4-1 over Ipswich Town
- West Ham register massive 4-1 win against Ipswich Town.
- All four star forwards score for Julen Lopetegui's side in huge Premier League win.
Before the seventh matchday, West Ham were without a win in five matches across all competitions and welcomed Kieran McKenna's high flying Ipswich Town to the London Stadium. While the newly promoted side were yet to take a league win, their performances have been improving in the recent weeks. In their previous home match, Ipswich Town displayed their resilience to comeback against Aston Villa and level the game at 2-2.
Moreover, West Ham had been conceding a lot of goals in the recent matches, thus, it became a must win match for the Hammers before going into the international break. Recently, Premier League analyst Paul Merson predicted the Hammers to showcase their full potential in this match, and West Ham started similarly on a high note. After conceding an early goal last week, Julen Lopetegui's side took advantage of a Kalvin Phillips mistake inside his own half, and Jarrod Bowen made a good run towards the box before giving the pass to Michail Antonio, who scored his first goal of the new Premier League season.

Minutes later, Ipswich Town levelled the game with new striker Liam Delap again finding the back of the net after his impressive brace against Aston Villa last week. Lucas Paqueta couldn't gain possession from the Ipswich Town corner and didn't make a great attempt to defend Delap's attempt, which was placed into Areola's near post by the England U21 international. The visitors made some good chances to take the lead, but Kilman and Todibo displayed composure and reliability in defence to keep the score at 1-1.
Just before half-time, West Ham advanced down the left flank and Paqueta exchanged passes with Emerson, who delivered a brilliant ball which was headed by Antonio, but his attempt came off the crossbar and the rebound was headed by Kudus to give West Ham the 2-1 lead. The 24-year-old Ghana international made a good run into the box and jumped highest on the rebound to score his first goal of the season. In the second half, Julen Lopetegui's side looked more comfortable on the ball and found a lot of empty spaces inside the final third with a lot of ease, creating a lot of goalscoring opportunities.
Captain Jarrod Bowen scored the third goal of the match with a well taken left-footed finish and returned to his best form as he provided his second assist of the match on Paqueta's fourth goal. This was Bowen's best performance as West Ham's captain so far, with the 27-year-old being recently omitted by the England national team after an inconsistent start to the season. West Ham held their three goal lead and took a massive 4-1 win in the seventh league match.
Further, it was West Ham's first home win in the Premier League after three consecutive defeats against Aston Villa, Manchester City and Chelsea at the London Stadium. With the international break coming, Julen Lopetegui's side have taken some good momentum which will be highly valuable as they will play two massive games against Tottenham Hotspurs and Manchester United after two weeks.
