Three observations from West Ham's 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace

1. Michail Antonio

In the last season, Michail Antonio struggled with both form as well as fitness. The center forward missed seventeen games due to a knee injury and scored just seven goals and provided two assists.

On top of that, Antonio is 34 years old which means his prime days in the Premier League are behind him. Thus, the West Ham board signed Niclas Fullkrug for the striker position. However, it looks like Antonio can still be a nice backup option this season.

In the Crystal Palace game, the forward looked in nice touch and showed his game awareness by taking advantage of the misplaced pass and timed his run to score the equaliser at 1-1. If Antonio can remain fit for the majority of the upcoming season, he can still score around ten goals which could further help West Ham towards their top six ambitions.
