Manchester City are going to make a significant move in the transfer market, signing young midfielder Xavier Parke from West Ham on a permanent deal. The U18 midfielder becomes Pep Guardiola's second summer signing after Troyes' Savinho as Manchester City prepare for the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Xavier Parker's path to West Ham has been one of perseverance and growth. He began his professional career playing in the U18 Premier League for West Ham.

The Englishman made two appearances this summer and is said to be highly regarded by those in charge at West Ham's youth academy. Despite his potential, Parker is yet to play senior professional football which could only be a matter of time as he is close to linking up with Manchester City's talented youth academy.

Recently, Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano confirmed Manchester City's interest in Parker, saying,

This deal is part of the Cityzens' transfer policy of trusting the youth and developing them in their youth academy. Players like Jadon Sancho, Phil Foden and Cole Palmer have gone on to become top footballers in their career graduating from City's academy.

As for West Ham, the Hammers youth themselves are in for opportunities as West Ham take on Dag and Red today in their second preseason game in Austria before the Sunshine State Tour in United States. Also, the club is close to signing a new pacey full back from the Premier League.
