Paul Merson predicts West Ham to play a thrilling draw with Fulham
By Rahul Das
West Ham will face Premier League side Fulham this week in the fourth league matchday after the international break. Recently, star forward Niclas Fullkrug picked up an achilles injury while training with the Germany national team and will miss this away fixture. Also, manager Julen Lopetegui has confirmed that West Ham won't be making any further signings and will give chances to their academy players instead.
Facing Fulham in an away game is a big match for the Hammers, who conceded five goals against Marco Silva's side in their last away fixture against Fulham. Also, Fulham have strengthened their squad with the arrivals of Arsenal stars Emile Smith-Rowe and Reiss Nelson as well as Crystal Palace's Joachim Andersen, who has been an impressive centre back in the recent Premier League seasons. On the other side, West Ham are a much improved side in both attack and defence as compared to last season and should have taken a draw against Aston Villa and Manchester City as well.
Paul Merson predicts West Ham to play a thrilling draw with Fulham
Now, Premier League analyst Paul Merson has predicted the two teams to play a thrilling 2-2 draw, saying,
"I think this game will end in a 2-2 draw. West Ham have bought well but they need to get results.
- Paul Merson
This will be one of those games where both teams will look like they will win and I expect them both to go for all three points."
A draw against Fulham in a away game will be a decent result, however the Hammers should try to build a good momentum by taking the three points from this game before facing Chelsea. Also, lineup changes are expected from manager Julen Lopetegui with star forward Niclas Fullkrug missing this match and several new signings such as Jean-Clair Todibo and Cryscencio Summerville highly likely to be in the starting lineup.
