At the beginning of this week, West Ham started listening to offers for James Ward Prowse in order to make way for the signing of a new box-to-box midfielder. The reports stated that the Hammers wanted a transfer fee of £25 million to part ways with the 29-year-old midfielder who arrived at the London Stadium last summer and made eighteen goal contributions in his debut season at West Ham. However, the former Southampton star isn't great at creating big chances from the build up play which is why West Ham have turned their attention towards Carlos Soler to replace Ward Prowse.
Several Premier League teams such as Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest were said to be interested in signing Ward Prowse, with a return to Southampton also not ruled out. Now, transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Nottingham Forest have agreed a season long loan deal to sign Ward Prowse from West Ham. Speaking about this transfer move, Fabrizio Romano gave the Here we go, saying,
Nottingham Forest sign James Ward Prowse on a season long loan from West Ham
"Nottingham Forest agree deal to sign James Ward-Prowse from West Ham, here we go!Fabrizio Romano
Loan deal almost completed waiting on formal steps."
This is a straight loan deal and no option to buy clause has been discussed between the two teams. If Ward Prowse performs well for Nottingham Forest and help them achieve a mid table finish in the Premier League, Forest would be willing to pay around £25 million to sign him on a permanent basis from West Ham next summer. Without a doubt Ward Prowse contributes to a lot of goals and is one of the best set piece specialists in the English top flight, but the Hammers need a midfielder with great passing to improve their overall build up play.
Now, West Ham are highly likely to complete the signing of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler on the final day of the transfer window. Now, it remains to be seen whether this will be a permanent signing or a season long loan move.
