Recently, West Ham and Nottingham Forest reached an agreement for the season long loan transfer of James Ward Prowse to Forest. The Hammers wanted to sell Ward Prowse to make way for signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler. Although West Ham wanted a permanent transfer of Ward Prowse for a transfer fee of £25 million, they have managed to send him on a loan move for this season, thereby opening a slot for a new signing in their midfield.
Now, on the final day of the summer transfer window, West Ham have completed the signing of Carlos Soler on a season long loan transfer from Paris Saint-Germain. Similar to the Ward Prowse deal, Julen Lopetegui's side have brought in the 27-year-old box-to-box playmaker at the London Stadium to provide more competition and depth to the midfield. Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano confirmed this transfer, saying,
Midfielder Carlos Soler joins West Ham on a season long loan transfer
"Confirmed: Carlos Soler to West Ham, here we go! Loan deal with buy option clause agreed with PSG.Fabrizio Romano
West Ham will cover the salary as part of the agreement. Soler travelling to London for medical tests."
Soler is a quality addition to this squad, considering West Ham struggles to create much chances from the build up play. With this addition, West Ham have completed their new signings in this transfer window. However, the club has a lot of players that haven't performed well at West Ham in the recent seasons, therefore the Hammers may look to sell a few players or send them on a season long loan transfer, as they did in the Ward Prowse transfer move.
Meanwhile, West Ham have a big game coming as they will face Premier League Champions Manchester City at the London Stadium in the third matchday of the Premier League. When these two sides met last season, Pep Guardiola's side took a 3-1 comeback win at the London Stadium and then followed it by winning 3- 1 again at home that included a Phil Foden brace in the first half. Since then, West Ham have brought in a new manager and nine new signings, thus, it's a big match for West Ham who are coming after taking a win each in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup.
