In the Ipswich Town match, West Ham received a much needed confidence boost in their attack starting from the first minute itself. Recently being omitted from the England national team, star forward Jarrod Bowen took advantage of Kalvin Phillips's mistake and won the ball in the Ipswich Town half before laying a great pass for Michail Antonio to score his first goal of the season. The 34-year-old looked slow on the ball and struggled in the first eight matches of the season but displayed his athleticism and finishing to give West Ham the early lead.
Although West Ham quickly conceded the equaliser, the early goal gave West Ham a huge momentum uplift as they increased their goalscoring efforts to score three more goals in the 4-1 win. After the match, West Ham's Premier League topscorer revealed his delight on taking the win and applauded two new signings, who played an important role for the Hammers in the first half. Speaking to the club's official website, Antonio raved about new defensive reinforcements Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jean-Clair Todibo, saying,
Michail Antonio applauds two amazing West Ham signings
"Aaron did great things at Manchester United for a number of years, so it was amazing to bring him in.Michail Antonio
And Jean-Clair is great on the ball, as well as being strong and fast. It’s exciting and encouraging for the whole team going forward."
Without a doubt, Wan-Bissaka has been one of the smart signings made by West Ham this season as the 26-year-old is one of the best defensive fullbacks in the Premier League and possesses a blistering pace alongside a tenacious tackling ability. Jean-Clair Todibo on the other hand, hasn't made a lot of appearances for West Ham but his previous two defensive displays have been encouraging as the 24-year-old France international has formed a rock solid defensive partnership with Max Kilman at the heart of the defence.
Similarly, Cryscencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug are also expected to become key players for West Ham after this international break as Julen Lopetegui's side are aiming to keep their winning momentum going in the Premier League.
