Hammers monitoring Fofana as Milan offer nowhere near valuation
- West Ham monitoring Monaco's holding midfielder Youssouf Fofana.
- Fofana agreed personal terms with Milan however, Milan are struggling to match Monaco's transfer fee demand.
West Ham have had a decent transfer window so far. After signing Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman, West Ham's transfer progress slowed down with the club struggling to finalize several deals for top transfer targets.
But in the last two days, the transfer activity has again gained momentum. After the surprise signing of Leeds United winger Cryscencio Summerville for £25 million, the Hammers are also involved in negotiations with Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United for Niclas Fullkrug and Aaron Wan-Bissaka respectively. And now, the club can move for another top signing on the transfer market.
Hammers monitoring Fofana as Milan offer nowhere near valuation
Monaco's holding midfielder Youssouf Fofana has been one of the top options on West Ham's shortlist to improve the midfield. But recently, a few days ago, it was revealed that Fofana is very close to joining Milan after agreeing personal terms with them. However, there has been a twist in this transfer move.
Now, according to a report from Calcio Mercato, Milan are yet to match Monaco's demand for the 25-year-old. Milan's offer for Fofana is described as nowhere near to Monaco's valuation of the French international. This has caught West Ham's attention as well with the Hammers said to be monitoring Fofana's transfer situation.
Julen Lopetegui wants the player to complete his midfield as the pivot midfielder is a huge upgrade on Tomas Soucek. Also, against Wolves the experienced midfielder was seen struggling to control the pace of the game and even made an error on Wolves opening goal. Fofana, on the other hand is an efficient holding midfielder who is press resistant and comfortable with the ball at his feet. Plus his pace allows him to drive the ball up the pitch and give several key passes in the final third.
Thus, if West Ham sign Youssouf Fofana, this will complete a perfect squad and Julen Lopetegui's side can even compete for a top four spot in the Premier League next season.
