Signed from Hull City in the middle of the 2019/20 season, Jarrod Bowen has proven to be an absolute masterstroke signing at the club. A £22M bargain, Bowen made his breakthrough in the Starting XI during the 2021/22 season. With 60 goals and 39 assists in 202 appearances for the Hammers, Bowen is cementing his legacy as a modern-day hero at the London Stadium.
Declan Rice's take on Jarrod Bowen
Even last season, Jarrod Bowen provided sixteen goals alongside six assists for the Hammers in 2023/24. Now, speaking at the Euros, his former teammate Declan Rice has shared an engaging take on Bowen's role at West Ham.
Rice said,
""A lot of that running comes from my West Ham days. We relied on Bowen. I am not saying now because he is here, but we relied on him so much to get up the pitch"."Declan Rice
Praising the winger's work rate under David Moyes, the Arsenal star, added,
""His work-rate under Moyesy was just like back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Without him… Obviously now, he is a club legend. There are a lot of wingers who are luxury wingers, who don’t actually do the work back because they are so good going forward, but with him, he has got such, both sides of the game"."Declan Rice
Currently representing England at the UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany, Jarrod Bowen and former Hammers star Declan Rice will look to bring the Euros trophy home as they face Netherlands in a crucial semi-final tie. England must win to set up a European final with Spain in Berlin.
Regarding the Euros, if won, it'll be the first Euro win for England after coming so close in the last edition of the UEFA Euro, losing to Italy on penalties.
After the UEFA Euro 2024, Jarrod Bowen will join the West Ham squad to take part in the latter stages of the preseason in the Sunshine State Tour in the United States. West Ham's preseason before the 2024/25 campaign is underway, and the club looks to strengthen Julen Lopetegui's side as they face another big Premier League season starting in August.
